PROLOGUE

Prologue

Jeevika Shukla had always believed in hard work. It was the cornerstone of her existence, the one thing that could change her life and pull her family out of their financial struggles. As she prepared for the UPSC exams, the weight of expectation pressed on her shoulders. Long nights, stacks of books, and relentless dedication filled her days, leaving no room for distractions—at least, that was the plan.

Then she met Arjun Raichand.

Arjun, with his sharp wit and casual arrogance, seemed to breeze through life with an ease that infuriated Jeevika. They first crossed paths in a crowded library, the quiet sanctuary of scholars suddenly filled with a tension neither of them could explain. Arjun, the son of a wealthy and powerful industrialist family, exuded confidence that bordered on smugness. He was preparing for law school, but his ambitions didn’t stop there—business was in his blood, and one day, he would take over the Raichand empire.

From the very first meeting, there was friction. Jeevika, the hardworking, no-nonsense student from a modest background, saw in Arjun everything she despised—privilege, entitlement, and an effortless charm that could dismantle anyone’s focus. Arjun, on the other hand, found Jeevika fascinating, though he would never admit it. Her relentless ambition, her drive to make something of herself, intrigued him, but their conversations always spiraled into heated arguments, each determined to outsmart the other.

For Jeevika, Arjun was a distraction, one she didn’t need. But even as she tried to keep her distance, fate had other plans. Their paths kept crossing, each meeting fueling their rivalry, until the UPSC results came, and Jeevika emerged victorious. She cleared the exam, achieving what she had set out to do—becoming an IAS officer at the age of 26. But life, as it turned out, had a way of bringing her back to the one person she wanted to forget.

Years passed, and as Jeevika settled into her role as a district collector, navigating the labyrinth of bureaucracy, Arjun's name surfaced again. This time, not as a law student but as a rising business tycoon. The Raichand empire had flourished under his leadership, and Arjun had become a force to be reckoned with in the corporate world.

Their second meeting wasn’t in a library but in a conference room, Jeevika representing the government, Arjun representing his corporate interests. The tension that had once been academic had evolved into something far more complex. They were now on opposite sides of power, their battles fought not in words but in influence. Yet, beneath the surface, the same sparks flickered, old wounds still fresh, unspoken feelings buried under layers of pride.

Six years later, everything had changed once again.

Jeevika, having served her time in public service, decided to follow her entrepreneurial dreams. She had built a successful event management company, her drive for success pushing her beyond the confines of government work. And Arjun—Arjun had become one of the most powerful businessmen in the country, his name synonymous with success. They were no longer the competitive students they once were, nor the professional rivals they had become. Now, they stood as equals in the business world, both of them giants in their own right.

But the years hadn’t erased their past. If anything, time had only deepened the unresolved tension between them. The misunderstandings, the rivalry, the fleeting moments of something more—they still lingered, like ghosts from a story left unfinished. Their final collision was inevitable, and this time, it wasn’t just about business or ambition. It was about confronting the emotions they had long buried.

In a world of power and pride, could they find a way to let go of the past and rebuild something new? Or would they remain enemies, too stubborn to admit what they had always known?

Some stories don’t end—they just begin again.
